But how many times do we see a Policeman / woman on actual point duty these days ?

They don't even man crossings these days when the lights have broken down!

Last winter I took my life in my hands crossing the Butts Road (4 lanes + 3 lanes) on foot in the early evening when not only the traffic lights controlling the Albany Road junction but the street lights had also failed. It was pitch darkness and drivers were randomly just charging across the junction horns blaring simply hoping there was nothing coming the other way. I saw a panda car coming towards the junction with two coppers inside and rather than stop to help it just drove straight through. I mentioned this to the chip shop owner in nearby Broomfield Road and he informed me the lights had been reported out since 9 o'clock that morning!

On my return journey to Spon End I took advantage of a single decker crossing the T-junction from Albany Road into the radial relief spur to shield me from any oncoming traffic. I figured even if something that big was hit there was little chance of whatever hit it reaching me!

Like the box junction o/side the telegraph office corporation st / upper well styou have a bus lane plus left / right turning cars try and get round as the buses turn leftinto corporation st
Traffic lights are red at the west orchards car park entrance /exit block the box jct. I believe the rule si enter if your exit is clear then have the cheek to pap there horn as you cross the road.
As of today 12/12/11 I have noticed the change in layout of the above,
