The recent post with regards to Dunne and the competition, reminded me that i have a 16-page programme from 1978, (eliminating rounds).

It's about the events, the regulations, instructions, the tests, TEST 2 was called "WIGGLE-WOGGLE" ! and a full list of the Drivers from the North, South & East Divisions who took part.

Those from the two Coventry Garages taking part were;
HARNALL LANE,
I.P.Patel, C.J. Sturdy, G.S. Gill, M.S. Banse, A. Higgins, R. West & G. Singh.
SANDY LANE;
P.Synnott, D.L. Doody, J.E. Martin, D. Raj, R. Renshaw, M.W.J. Kelsey & D.J. Wale.

The National Final Awards, the First prize, was the title 'UK Bus Driver of the Year, and the COVENTRY TROPHY donated by COVENTRY ROAD ACCIDENT PREVENTION COUNCIL and a holiday for two National Bus Company.

According to this web page:
http://www.bdoy.co.uk/about/index.html
The Bus Driver of the Year competition was originated in 1967 by Coventry Corporation.

This is apparently a different competition to the ROSCO Safe Driving Award.

I'm not too sure what year this photo was taken, but following on from what SecurityKev's mentioned about the 1978 Bus Driver of the Year event, i wonder if any of the Driver's on the photo here are any of the ones mentioned on Kevin's list ??? The late Rose Bradley is clearly seen on the left hand side of the photo and i do recognise and remember seeing alot of the other Driver's pictured here to, but maybe someone like "Dunne" can hopefully put a name to some of them ???

The driver standing next to Rose is one of the Moody brothers and the driver next to him is Alan Fanning.I think it was driver Raj who was being presented with the trophy by Jim Stokes.If you could magnify the image of the trophy itself you could tell by the number of blank plates what year this is.The trophy spent a year at our house in 1969 i even remember polishing it.

Thanks Dunne for supplying some names to faces, as it is much appreciated ! The last time that i actually saw that Trophy, it was displayed in the front window of the Transport Museum back in what must be the mid to late 1990's now and it was when the Museum was extended years ago into the old Mattersons Store in Hales Street, thus using their old entrance as the new entrance at the time into the Museum !!! Besides the Trophy, there were a few other "CCT" items displayed in the window to, which were mainly Bus Stop Signs (about 3 or 4 of them ?) and a few Models aswell i think ???
