I BELIEVE THE BELL CODEWAS, 1 TO STOP, 2 TO GO, 3 EMERGENCYSTOP, 4 CARRY ON FULL UP, THIS WAS ON THE BUSES, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE TRAM CODE.TRAM CONDUCTOR ERNIE WRIGHT NEVER USED THE TRAM BELL TO SIGNAL,HE WHISTLED THROUGH HIS TEETH. ALSO TRAM CONDUCTOR BILL KIRK NEVER USED THE TRAM BELL, HE BLEW A SCHOOL WHISTLE, AND CARRIED ON USING THE WHISTLE ON THE BUSES UNTIL HE RETIRED.

HERE IS A BIT MORE INTEREST TO THE TWO TRAM CONDUCTORS. ERNIE WRIGHT'S SON, GEORGE WRIGHT WAS A CCT DRIVER FROM THE EARLIER 1940'S AND LATER BECAME INSPECTOR WRIGHT UNTIL HE RETIRED.BILL KIRK'S SON,THOMAS KIRK,SERVED HIS APPRENTICESHIP AS A FITTER AT CCT.IN 1964 HE RECONDITIONED AN AEC ENGINE WHICH WAS FITTED INTO GKV 94.THIS ENGINE IS STILL RUNABLE APART FROM A BLOWN CYL. HEAD GASKET.

Wasn't there a previous topic covering this? I can't find it though so maybe I dreamt it, or does anyone else recall?

Was it possible some bus companies used bell codes for reversing a termini.
Also I attend a few rallies during the year some use the whistle as well,
